DOUBLE HOUSE (1996)

• Renovation/Addition to an early 50's New England split-level home (Greenwich, Ct.)

THE PLAN...

• A new “modernist” volume frames the social spaces of the existing white clapboard house

• The front/public facade of the “old” house introduces the elemental forms and materials of the “new” house

which becomes dominant on the rear/private facade.

• The private spaces in the “old” house are further bridged by the “new” house and spanned by

an exterior deck/terrace overlooking the site.
